Scholarship available for Female Pre-Health Students

KATHERINE VARIO SCHOLARSHIP
In memory of Katherine Vario, a UAlbany biology major and premedical student
For undergraduate women who are interested in dentistry, medicine, or
medical sciences and have one or more years of studies remaining
Scholarship Qualifications:
 Evidence of intent to pursue a career in dentistry, medicine, or medical sciences
 Employment or volunteer experience in a medically oriented field
 Students should be rising seniors and have completed at least 3 semesters of studies at the University at Albany
 Minimum overall and major GPAs of 3.2
 Involvement in school activities
 Demonstrated commitment to community service
 Demonstrated financial need*
To apply, interested students should electronically submit the following to:

1. A résumé
2. A transcript or student audit
3. An essay addressing the first two and last scholarship qualifications
4. One letter of recommendation from someone familiar with your medically oriented volunteer work or your
commitment to community service
 The letter of recommendation from the referee must be e-mailed to ctpager@albany.edu
 Students may request letters of recommendation already on file with the Pre-Health advisor to be used for the
scholarship. Letters may be requested by e-mailing Ms. Kimberly Kerker at kkerker@albany.edu
*Students must have applied for financial aid. The application to be used by the Office of Financial Aid to determine demonstrated
financial need is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The website for filing the FAFSA is http://www.fafsa.ed.gov .
Application Deadline: March 13, 2015
Notification of Scholarship by April 3, 2015
Scholarship award will be approximately $2,300
