Position title:                         Marketing and Planning Analyst
Accountable:                          Director of Planning

Basic Responsibilities:
Supports 3 main functions:

  1. Strategic planning, market studies, and communications projects – through data collection and analysis activities
  2. Market development – through data analysis
  3. Physician outreach – through maintenance of all data sets that interface with online tracking tool

Specific Responsibilities:
Market analytics:

  • Prepare demographic, market and other research to support the development and tracking of Albany Med’s Strategic Plans
  • Prepare demographic, market and other research to support business plans, Certificates of Need, and other market studies
  • Use appropriate software and information systems to create data reports and maps on planning and marketing issues
  • Collect planning and marketing data from multiple internal and external sources
  • Build databases for planning and marketing analyses
  • Respond to requests for marketing and planning data from Albany Med’s operating units
  • Assist with developing and implementing market research projects and analyses

Market development:

  • Support Albany Med’s market development through use of software and data analytics
  • Prepare monthly ROI reports from internal billing sources
  • Support market development communications efforts:
    • Assist with development of outreach databases
    • Upload lists to e-marketing platform/server
    • Assist with maintenance of outreach databases

Physician Outreach:

  • Support the physician outreach function:
    • Responsible for full knowledge of physician outreach software
    • Maintain comprehensive database of physicians in Albany Med’s service area
    • Upload all physician communications into software
    • Confirm accuracy of data entry in software
    • Create and distribute physician outreach activity reports as needed


  • Provide overall support to all marketing and planning processes


  • Must have bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, marketing, finance, health care, computer science, or related field
  • 2-3 years experience in planning, marketing, or related field is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Access, Word
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be a self-starter, team player, and detail-oriented
  • Strong desire to support Albany Medical Center’s strategic initiatives and related business development
